Suwannee Canal Recreation Area
Deer and Feral Hog Lottery Quota Hunt, located near Folkston. The dates of this hunt are Friday, October 22, and Saturday, October 23 (5:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.). A total of 40 permits will be awarded for the hunt, 10 of which will be reserved for mobility-impaired hunters (i.e. confined to a wheelchair) and/or youth hunters (ages 16 and under). Mobility-impaired and youth hunter dates are Friday, October 22, and Saturday, October 23. Each mobility-impaired/youth hunter drawn for Chesser Island can have one escort to assist with their hunt. The escorts of these individuals are authorized to hunt under the same permit. Hunters are required to use shotguns or muzzleloaders only. Deer taken do not count against the state limit and a special refuge tag will be provided upon check-out for each deer taken.
Pocket Unit Hunt
Deer and Feral Hog Archery Only, located near Fargo. The dates of this hunt are September 11 – November 7, 2021, in accordance with State regulations. All hunters must sign in and out each day of the hunt. All stands must be removed daily.

The public is invited to visit and observe an Okefenokee Toastmasters Club meeting any Wednesday at noon in the Student Services Building at South Georgia State College, Waycross Campus. The club provides an opportunity to learn useful tips and tricks to improve one’s speaking and leadership skills.

Kiwanis Club of Waycross is affiliated with Kiwanis International, a global voluntary organization. We meet on Fridays at Jerry J’s on Plant Avenue at noon. We fundraise to support organizations that serve children in our community e.g. Saddle-Up, Okefenokee Regional Library, HeadStart and more. We promote literacy and youth leadership. We support Bring Up Grades (BUG) programs in our local elementary schools.

Deer and Feral Hog Lottery Quota Hunt, located near Folkston. The dates of this hunt are Friday, October 22, and Saturday, October 23 (5:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.). A total of 40 permits will be awarded for the hunt, 10 of which will be reserved for mobility-impaired hunters (i.e. confined to a wheelchair) and/or youth hunters (ages 16 and under). Mobility-impaired and youth hunter dates are Friday, October 22, and Saturday, October 23. Each mobility-impaired/youth hunter drawn for Chesser Island can have one escort to assist with their hunt. The escorts of these individuals are authorized to hunt under the same permit. Hunters are required to use shotguns or muzzleloaders only. Deer taken do not count against the state limit and a special refuge tag will be provided upon check-out for each deer taken.
Pocket Unit Hunt
Deer and Feral Hog Archery Only, located near Fargo. The dates of this hunt are September 11 – November 7, 2021, in accordance with State regulations. All hunters must sign in and out each day of the hunt. All stands must be removed daily.

Cowhouse Unit Hunt
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNA) is managing deer, feral hog, small game, and turkey hunts on Cowhouse Island in conjunction with their Dixon Memorial Wildlife Management Area (WMA) hunts. Hunters on this portion of the refuge are limited to foot and bicycle traffic only. No dogs are allowed except for hunting quail. Sign-in and check-in at Dixon Memorial WMA. Kiwanis Club of Waycross is affiliated with Kiwanis International, a global voluntary organization. We meet on Fridays at Jerry J’s on Plant Avenue at noon. We fundraise to support organizations that serve children in our community e.g. Saddle-Up, Okefenokee Regional Library, HeadStart and more. We promote literacy and youth leadership. We support Bring Up Grades (BUG) programs in our local elementary schools.
