Exchange Club Meeting @ Okefenokee Fair Association
Mar 8 @ 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm

Exchange, America’s Premier Service Club, working to make our communities better places to live. Exchange’s Mission Statement was updated in January, after approval by the National Board of Directors. The concise phrasing more effectively communicates our mission to members, potential members and the general public.

Core Values

Each member of Exchange holds near to their heart three core values – Family, Community and Country. Commitment to Family is interpreted not only as one’s own family needs, but also those of all American families. Strengthening families, with a focus on youth, is addressed in many ways through Exchange’s Programs of Service. Commitment to the Community where an Exchangite resides is the focal point for each club’s efforts. Exchange is unique as a service organization in that it has the flexibility to structure projects that target the specific needs of a particular geographic location, rather than being restricted to a certain cause. Commitment to Country was born in the aftermath of World War II, a time of unquenchable patriotism. Exchangites are proud to join veterans and other civic groups in promoting Americanism as the rich blessing of democracy and freedom, and in educating today’s youth to cherish its values. These three values are translated into actions every day to bring about positive results through the work of hundreds of clubs and tens of thousands of dedicated Exchange Club members every day.

Spring Nature Photography Workshop @ Okefenokee National Wildlife
Mar 10 @ 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Folkston, GA – Local award winning and widely published nature photographer, John Reed, will conducta Spring Nature Photography Workshop at Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, March 10 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m (registration begins at 7:30 a.m.). “March is a wonderful time to photograph at Okefenokee. Winter is on the wane and spring is just around the corner. Cool days with warm sun, and the biting insects aren’t yet out looking for their lunch” says Reed. “The iconic alligators are there up close, plus all manner of birds, flowers, beautiful landscapes, and perhaps even a bobcat, raccoon, fox squirrel, bear or more! You never know what you’ll see”.

Go back in time to the Chesser Island Homestead for a taste of what early life on the swamp was like. Even if you’ve been here before, every visit is different. Photography here is a blast with this sort of variety.

Spend the day with us enjoying this magical place; learning fundamentals to take memories home though photos you create. The workshop includes both classroom instruction and roaming the refuge to apply your new photography skills to capture, save, and share your day.

Cost for the workshop is $60 in advance. Walk-ins will be welcome as space permits for an additional $5 fee. The workshop is sponsored by the Okefenokee Wildlife League, the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, and John Reed Photography. For registration and information, call the Richard S.
Bolt Visitor Center at 912-496-7836 between 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The $5 entrance fee to the refuge is not included in the workshop cost.
